Academics

  • 3.123 is Tennesse Eta's 3rd best all-time academic performance in our history.
  • The 3.12 chapter GPA was .337 higher than the next closest fraternity on campus!
  • The 3.12 also ranks the Tennessee Eta chapter as one of Sigma Phi Epsilon's top academic chapters nationally out of all 257 SigEp Chapters. Go to the SigEp National Web Site for details.
  • Four members achieved a 4.0 GPA and 80% of our brothers earned a 3.0GPA or better for the Fall 2002 semester.

Not only do the men of Tenessee Eta consistently perform well-above the all-campus GPA and all-campus men's GPA, but we perform well above the all-Greek GPA and all-fraternity GPA.

Academic Keys to Success
SigEp is committed to the success of its members; success in school and success in their future careers. We recognize that the first indicator of success is academic performance and so we strive in various ways to enhance the academic success of our members.

All members are part of the Balanced Man Program, a four-year development program that requires them to set GPA goals each semester. If these goals are not achieved, an evaluation is done with that member to determine why success was not achieved and what needs to be done to achieve success. All academic focused events are coordinated by the Vice President of Member Development.

The fraternity's membership guide, the Lifetime Responsibility of Brotherhood, has an entire section on study skills and ways to achieve academic success. Members are required to read this information and are tested on it before they can proceed to the next step in their development.

The SigEp House at Austin Peay is also the only fraternity house on campus completely wired for High-speed Internet Access! Every brothers' room is wired thus making technlogy another huge part of our academic success.

The Vice President of Member Development and his cabinet chairmen supervise mandatory study hours for individuals having difficulty with their classes. If needed, this cabinet will also help with the setting up of tutors for specific classes.

Chapter Bylaws provide that members who earn a GPA below 2.5 for two consecutive semesters are subject to expulsion. This high standard continues to strengthen our chapter with quality men.

The chapter also has a Faculty Advisor who works with many brothers when scheduling classes and working toward degrees. The Vice President of Member Development and his committee works on improving the academic skills of those brothers having trouble with specific classes.

We recruit the best, that is why we are the best. In order to join Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity a potential member must have a 2.5 GPA. This high academic standard always proves to bring quality men into our brotherhood. Most fraternities give bids to anyone and everyone, but SigEp holds to its high standards, that's why our academic success far surpasses all other greek fraternities at Austin Peay.
